LG Poll: Onikeke Community Adopts Akeem Olatunji As Sole Candidate



As preparation ahead of the April local government election heightens, Onikeke community in ward 1 has declared Akeem Olatunji, chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole as its sole candidate ahead of the election. 


General chairman of Onikeke Community Development Council, Alhaji Olawale Hamzat, made the declaration at an endorsement ceremony held at Onikeke on Saturday February 3rd.


The traditional leader of the community, Baale Onikeke, Alhaji Kamorudeen Adekunle Adedoja, who was personally present at the event also assured that Olatunji remains their sole candidate as the local government election approaches. 


According to the CDC chairman, Onikeke consists of no fewer than 20 densely populated villages with high voting strength assuring that every part of the community's votes would be delivered to the PDP candidate. 


He equally declared that leadership of Onikeke community, as a show of support, has produced customized hand bands and other souvenirs to rally more support for Olatunji. 


"We want to on behalf of Onikeke community declare that we're unanimously for Governor Seyi Makinde's PDP and Akeem Olatunji as our sole candidate as the next executive chairman of Oluyole local government.


"I also want to let everyone know that this endorsement clearly significance the widespread support enjoyed by Engineer Akeem Olatunji based on his popularity as he always identifies with us very strongly at the grassroots.


"We have also produced customized hand-bands as our own support towards the success of Olatunji's election due to the trust and confidence the community places in him." The Onikeke CDC chairman stated. 


In his remarks, Olatunji, while expressing gratitude to governor Makinde providing all the needed support for the success of the coming local government poll, he added that, for such a diverse and populous community to unanimously endorse him adds credence to his chances of winning the election landslide. 


"Being endorsed by Onikeke community has further amplified my standing among voters, and this has clearly givene the opportunity to showcase my ability to effectively harness and manage both human and material resources to further develop Oluyole in line with Governor Makinde's sustainable development agenda." Olatunji said. 


Similarly, Olatunji's campaign train also received major boost as crowd of supporters and party faithful in ward II, declared 'operation deliver every polling unit' across the ward. 


Among members of Olatunji's entourage are the PDP chairman in Oluyole, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, Oluyole Local Government Vice Chairman, Hon Tunde Ayoade, DG Campaign, Architect Salaam Azeez, Hon Fatai Ogunrin (Chairman Campaign Council), 

Hon Azeez Babalola (Campaign Council Secretary), and Comrade Kamorudeen Idowu Owo Geesi - Oyo State PMS Treasurer. Alh Moruf Elelubo, Hon John Ogunsola Omo Obasanjo, Akorede LCDA Secretary, Hon Bolarinwa Olubodun.
