Devastating Ibadan Explosion : Arapaja Sympathizes With Victims.

  The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has sympathized with the  families of the victims of the explosion  which occurred at Bodija area Ibadan in the night of Tuesday, describing the incident as devastating and heart shattering. Ambassador Arapaja also sympathize with the Oyo State government under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde, saying this moment calls for a sober reflection in the state. Ambassador Arapaja stated this in a condolence message he personally issued and made available to journalists through his Personal Assistant, Bamitale Ibrahim this morning in Ibadan. Ambassador Arapaja commended the efforts of H.E Engr Oluwaseyi  Abiodun Makinde and other relevant government agencies who have been working round the clock to salvage the lives of those trapped in the rubble as well as the plan to provide succour to the victims and their families. Ibadan Explosion: Gov. Makinde Visits Scene, Reveals Cause ( Video )

Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has said that preliminary investigation revealed that explosive devices stored by illegal miners led to the explosion that rocked Ibadan on Tuesday night. The governor said while investigation is still ongoing, those found culpable would be brought to book. He added that so far, two people died in the explosion, while 77 others were injured. ” We visited the scene of the explosion which occurred at about 7.44 pm yesterday, 16 January 2024 in Bodija, Ibadan. This unfortunate incident resulted in death and injury to residents in the vicinity and also affected properties. We have already deployed first responders and all relevant agencies within Oyo State to carry out comprehensive search and rescue operations. These operations will continue throughout the night. Earthmoving equipment, ambulances, emergency lights, and security were deployed to the scene of the incident. The wounded and injured are being treated and moved to public and private hospitals
