Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration is revolutionizing the agricultural sector in Oyo State through a series of impactful initiatives. Fasola Farms, once a symbol of neglect has been transformed under Governor Makinde’s administration into a thriving industrial hub.

This revitalization has not only restored the farm’s productivity but has also created numerous job opportunities and stimulated local economies.

"Currently, at the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, private investors are making significant investments in animal husbandry, drawing inspiration from the iconic Western Region project but with a modern technological twist. The cutting-edge cattle breed initiative at Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub is poised to not only supply high-quality cattle for commercial use but also produce large quantities of premium processed milk once fully operational. This innovative venture is set to revolutionize the agricultural industry in the region, leveraging technology to drive growth and sustainability."

Leading dairy companies, including Friesland Campina Wamco (producer of Peak and CrownMilk), E4 Farms and Food Limited, and Milkin Barn Limited, are currently breeding thousands of cattle at the Fasola Livestock Transformation Center. Their goal is to develop a new generation of high-performing cattle that can efficiently produce premium dairy products, tailored to meet the demands of future farm economies and social circumstances in the region. This innovative initiative aims to drive sustainability and growth in the dairy industry, ensuring a more resilient and productive cattle population for generations to come.

Recognizing the backbone role of smallholder farmers in the state’s agriculture, Governor Makinde’s administration has distributed quality seeds and seedlings to 10,000 smallholder farmers. This provision ensures farmers have access to the best planting materials, which is crucial for improving crop yields and food production.

Under the visionary leadership of Governor Makinde, the Livestock Productivity and Resilient Support Project (LPRES), funded by the World Bank, is empowering over 1,000 livestock farmers through the Fasola Livestock Center. This impactful initiative aims to enhance the productivity and resilience of livestock farming in the region, providing critical support to farmers and contributing to the growth and development of the agricultural sector. This LPRES project is a testament to Governor Makinde's commitment to driving sustainable agriculture and improving the livelihoods of farmers in Oyo State.

In a significant move to support poultry farmers, the government provided 2,600 farmers with 50kg bags of maize. This intervention is designed to alleviate feed costs, ensuring the sustainability and growth of poultry farming, which is a key component of the state’s agricultural output.

Farmers across Oyo State have received herbicides and other farm tools, thanks to the supportive policies of Governor Makinde’s administration. These tools are essential for modern farming practices, helping farmers manage their crops more efficiently and increase productivity.

To promote a diverse agricultural sector, support has been extended to 1,000 fish farmers, cattle breeders, and piggery farmers. This comprehensive approach ensures that various agricultural sub-sectors receive the necessary backing to thrive, contributing to a balanced and resilient agricultural economy.

Governor Makinde’s administration has introduced safer intervention methods for farmers, promoting sustainable agricultural practices. These measures are not only aimed at protecting the environment but also at ensuring the long-term viability of farming activities in Oyo State.

Under the ACCOS scheme, 3,525 farmers have benefited from low-interest loans. This financial support is critical for farmers who need capital to expand their operations, invest in new technologies, and improve their productivity.

Mechanization is a key driver of modern agriculture, and the Makinde administration has provided subsidies on tractors and tentage for farmers. This initiative reduces the cost burden on farmers and encourages the adoption of mechanized farming, which enhances efficiency and output.

Governor Seyi Makinde’s initiatives in the agricultural sector are laying a solid foundation for long-term food security and economic prosperity in Oyo State. By supporting farmers and investing in sustainable practices, his administration is not only boosting the state’s agricultural output but also contributing to the overall development and well-being of its citizens.

These efforts are testaments to Governor Makinde’s commitment to transforming Oyo State into a leading agricultural hub, ensuring that the benefits of agricultural growth are widely shared among its people. The future of agriculture in Oyo State looks promising, thanks to the visionary leadership and proactive measures of Governor Seyi Makinde.

"Governor Seyi Makinde's administration has revived the nostalgic legacy of Fasola Farm, echoing the visionary strides of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. This revitalization effort signifies a modern rebirth of Awolowo's enduring impact, as Governor Makinde's leadership brings renewed vitality to the agricultural sector, blending tradition with innovation. By reviving Fasola Farm's glory, Governor Makinde honors the past while shaping a brighter future for Oyo State."
