Oluyole LG PDP Stakeholders, Leaders Pass Vote Of Confidence On Council Boss, Olatunji



Stakeholders and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the executive chairman of the Council, Engr. Akeem Olatunji. 


The resolution for the endorsement was reached during a quarterly stakeholders meeting well attended by key party figures, including the local government party chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Akingbola and his executives, all ten ward chairmen and their executive members, leaders, and elders of the party in the council. 


The meeting held on Friday, September 7, in the office of the executive chairman, local government Secretariat, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan. 

In his welcome address, Olatunji expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has continued to enjoy and affirmed his commitment to consolidate on the progress made during so far. 


While acknowledging the important role of the party as what he described as the parent that burthed government, Olatunji stressed the need to empower the party to enable it live up to its duties and expectations. 


He therefore, announced an immediate increment of monthly due deducted from the basic salary of all elected and appointed Local government officials from 5 percent on basic salary to 10 percent on net monthly earning effective from September 1, 2024.


The proposition by the Council boss was unanimously accepted by all with an avowed commitment to be faithful in their payments to the party coffers directly from the payment source.


The stakeholders in their separate remarks, lauded Olatunji for his visionary leadership and his commitment to the welfare and well-being of party leaders, elders, and members across the Council assuring of their continuous support for him and his administration.


They also lauded him for the various projects in Oluyole Local Government within a short period of assuming office including perimeter fencing, establishment of new markets, refurbishment of 150KVA and smaller power generators and vehicles, security architecture enhancement, land acquisition, road construction, and free holiday coaching for students. Additionally, two new Amotekun bases are being constructed.

He highlighted several completed and ongoing and upcoming initiatives targeted at further enhancing local social amenities, improve quality of life, and addressing community based needs, assuring that his administration is fully focused on replicating Governor Seyi Makinde's vision of good governance to all in the state.


Speaking to new men shortly after the meeting, Olatunji said the gathering was convened as part of the stakeholders action plan to strengthen the party in Oluyole and create a cohesive political family where every member of the ruling PDP has a sense of belonging. 


He stated further that the meeting also sought to review and assess the progress and achievements of the council under Olatunji’s stewardship in the first 100 days in office as an administration.


Throughout the meeting, various party stakeholders praised Olatunji for his effective governance, commitment to community development, and transparency in office as well as his inclusivity which has deepened a sense of belonging to PDP members in Oluyole.


Olatunji was equally recognized for his efforts in implementing various community based developmental projects and improving local infrastructure such completion of Grade Customary Court of Appeal, reconstruction of Ametokun Headquarters, construction of borehole, completion of a multipurpose administrative complex, all within the LG Secretariat. 

Also speaking, Alhaji Mukaila Akingbola, PDP chairman in Oluyole local government maintained that the show of unity and confidence from within the party its critical stakeholders not only reinforces Olatunji's position as a dependable leader and public administrator but also signals a stable and cohesive leadership within Oluyole Local Government.
