Oluyole PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Olatunji Renovates A Block Of Four Classrooms Damaged By Rainstorm
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole ahead of the coming 2024 Local Government election, Akeem Olatunji has renovated Olomi Community Primary School 2; a block of four classrooms at Olomi, Ibadan.
The renovation involves reroofing the building that was damaged by rainstorm during a heavy downpour in the area about seven years ago, westernmirror.com.ng has gathered.According to the former Publicity Secretary of the ruling PDP in Oyo state, teachers and students could no longer use the building for academic purposes after the damage.
The renovation of the academic building has however, been completed last week, Olatunji confirmed to this online newspaper when contacted on Sunday.Olatunji disclosed that the roof of the academic block of four classrooms was blown off about seven years ago leaving pupils and teachers helpless under an unfavorable teaching and learning condition.
“I believe that the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration has done so much in the area of improving infrastructures in public schools and the best way to encourage the performing government is to contribute our own little quota to compliment what has been done.
“It is important to note that no one Government can do everything, that is why government is continuum and we must collectively be responsible for our community and society’s development as beneficiaries of the same society.
“I hope that others, especially organizations and institutions that have benefited from this community and other parts of Oluyole Local Government would see act like this as a way of giving back to the society. We owe ourselves as responsive people, that much responsibility.
“Qualitative education was and still remains part of the four cardinal pillars of the Governor Makinde led government. As a candidate seeking the mandate of my people in Oluyole Local Government, the governor’s education policies would be replicated in Oluyole to achieve policy cohesion and trickle down effects from the state.” Olatunji said.
Headmaster of Olomi Community Primary School 2, Alhaji Sulaiman Sanusi, who confirmed the development, commended Olatunji for being sensitive to the plight of the school and it’s teachers and pupils in time of need.
He added that it was not the first time Akeem Olatunji would come to the rescue of the school in such critical time as he had earlier in 2016 built administrative office for the school when teachers had no offices to operate from.
He urged Olatunji to continue being friend of the masses and to sustain the act of kindness to his community assuring that posterity would be kind to him.
