LG Poll: Akeem Olatunji Inaugurates 7-man Election Management C'tee in Oluyole... ...As Oluyole PDP Begins Training For Party Polling Agents Across 10 wards.


 

As preparations for the forthcoming Saturday local government election in Oyo state gathers momentum, the Chairmanship candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole local government, Akeem Olatunji, has inaugurated a 7-man Election Management Committee headed by Architect Salaam Azeez to oversee the electoral process.


The inauguration ceremony, which took place at the party's Idi-Ayunre local government secretariat yesterday, April 22, saw Olatunji emphasizing the need for transparency, fairness, and adherence to electoral guidelines in the conduct of the elections. 


Present at the official inauguration are a former Two terms House of Representative Member, Hon Depo Oyedokun, Oluyole Local Government Chairman, Hon Olaide Settle, Member representing Oluyole State Constituency, Hon Waheed Akintayo, Special Assistant to the Governor, Hon Olumide Akinlade, Vice Chairman of Oluyole LG, Hon Tunde Ayoade, Oluyole PDP Chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, Vice Chairmanship Candidate, and all 10 Ward Chairmen and Leaders in Oluyole


The party equally commenced intense training for its 229 polling agents drawn from across the 10 wards in Oluyole local government yesterday to ensure proper election monitoring and adequate accountability. 



Olatunji reiterated his commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process that reflects the will of the people and to ensure that enemies of democracies who despised democratically elected government at the local level for seven uninterrupted years against the Constitution do not have any ground to disrupt the Saturday election.


According to Olatunji, the newly inaugurated election management committee comprised individuals with integrity, and diverse backgrounds as well as vast experiences to deliver on their mandate in line with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde for a free, fair, and credible local government election


"Their mandate includes the coordination of voter education, logistics, security, and the overall management of the electoral process." Olatunji said. 


Speaking further, Olatunji said: "In line with the vision of our leader, father and political mentor, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to entrench true democracy and good governance at the grassroots, I must declare here and now that the successful conduct of free, fair, and transparent elections is crucial to the democratic process and we must resist those false alarmists by our votes.


"We understand that nobody can give what they do not have and so we expect them to raise false alarm, propaganda against efforts of our visionary leader who has courageously displayed exceptional leadership by putting all needed resources and measures in place for yet another local government election, the second under the watch of Governor Makinde.



"I must say clearly that I have full confidence in the members of this committee to discharge their duties diligently and uphold the principles of democracy and as such I humbly solicit your cooperation and support to enable them succeed on this demanding task."


In response, the newly appointed chairman of the Election Management Committee in Oluyole, Architect Salaam Azeez expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party in such capacity and pledged to hit the ground running immediately to ensure PDP records resounding victory at the poll on Saturday. 


He equally assured Olatunji and the people of Oluyole of the committee's commitment to ensuring a credible and peaceful electoral exercise.


"I want to humbly accept this offer for this noble course and I must admit that the inauguration of this election management committee marks a significant step in Oluyole PDP towards the realization of democratic ideals at the local level. 


Meanwhile, Olatunji, election management committee, PDP stakeholders and leaders in Oluyole and other top party chieftains have begun strategic meetings ahead of the Saturday Council poll.
